PROJECT ENGINEER
We are looking for a Project Engineer to support in-field Project Managers and work with Site Superintendents to oversee all aspects of project delivery. The Project Engineer will also work closely with the Project Coordinator to manage all project documentation (budgets, requests for information, change orders, submittals, subcontracts, etc.).
The Project Engineer will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the project team to support efficient management of Cookline projects. The role is based at our head office in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco and requires travel to job sites on an as-needed basis to complete assigned duties.
General duties:
Uses Cookline systems (Procore, Smartsheet, Google Suite, Asana) to keep the project information organized and up to date.
Updates project schedule
Reviews subcontractor estimates and change orders
Drafts or builds change order packages
Drafts and sends RFI's/submittals
Writes daily log reports
Supports the Superintendent in maintaining jobsite safety and cleanliness
Responsible for scheduling subcontractors to meet the current project schedule and confirming work is completed on time
Ensures quality control, quality assurance and that industry standards are maintained by performing quality control checks regularly during the week to identify mistakes or defects and efficiently address items quickly to prevent punch list items.
Responsible for confirming subcontractor scope matches client drawings and contract by reviewing and approving submittals, RFI's and material purchasing.
Ensures that the site is prepared for scheduled subcontractors by understand the upcoming scope and anticipating the needs for that subcontractor
Protecting completed work with floor coverings, wall coverings additional site protection from further trade damage or construction damage.
Prepares for internal team meetings by prioritizing and executing on to do list items
Strong verbal and written communication skills to make sure the entire project team is updated on the status of the project each week
Responsible for drafting, updating and taking meeting minutes for OAC meetings
Responsible for field and drawing based take-offs and ordering project materials to support the project team
Identify and coordinate the resolution of risks occurring on the job site
Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities and corporate events.
Requirements
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the construction industry
Must have a valid drivers’ license and vehicle for transportation to various jobsites within the Bay Area. (Cookline reimburses for mileage for job-related travel)
Experience using project management software (construction-related software preferred)
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
Desirable: love of food and eating at great restaurants, Spanish language
