Following the success of Protégé, the Michelin-starred restaurant we built in 2017, we were invited back by the clients to bring their latest vision, Bar Underdog, to life. Working once again alongside Studio KDA, our team remodeled a former wine bar into a new intimate cocktail bar that blends modern craftsmanship with subtle nods to timeless hospitality.
The scope included demolition and new millwork, anchored by a new bar with a solid ebonized walnut top and Shou Sugi Ban paneling. The front-of-house features mahogany wood paneling, specialty foil wallpaper, and new lighting creating a moody, layered atmosphere that balances warmth and sophistication. Back-of-house and back-of-bar updates to plumbing, electrical, equipment and finishes modernized the space behind the scenes while preserving its intimate scale.
